CALLING all futsal enthusiasts! The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) will be having its annual futsal competition, the YDP Trophy Futsal, over the weekend of April 18 and 19.
The competition is jointly organised with HTO De Futsal, which is also the venue sponsor for the event.
It is open only to Malaysians, and a team should consist of eight people (five players and three reserves).
Players who have participated in Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) football and futsal leagues (FAM league/youth/super/Felda) or premier leagues from Jan 1, 2008 until now may enter this competition but only three of these players are allowed in a team.
The council is targeting 250 teams this time around, and the league matches will be played on the first day while the semifinals and finals will be played the next day.
So far, some 40 teams have registered for the competition.
The registration fee is RM200 per team.
The matches will be played from 9am to 6.30pm on both days at the HTO de Futsal in USJ 1, Subang Jaya.
The grand prize winner will take home RM5,000, the YDP trophy, and medals.
The second prize winner will receive RM3,000 and medals; the third placed team, RM800 and medals; the fourth placed team, RM400 and medals; while the fifth to eighth placed teams will each receive RM200.
The sponsors are Firefly, KLFm, Nike Malaysia, TV3, F&N, Kappa, and Mofaz Sdn Bhd.
The closing date for registration is April 14.
