SUBANG – Firefly, Your Community Airline, pulled the wraps off its brand new fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft at Skypark Terminal, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport today. The Boeing 737-800 with Firefly’s strikingly radiant livery was unveiled for the first time since the announcement of their Jet operations from KLIA last November. Minister of Transport, YB. Dato' Seri Kong Cho Ha graced the unveiling and officially led the tour of Firefly’s first Boeing 737-800 bearing registration number FY 501 accompanied by Dato’ Eddy Leong, Managing Director of Firefly.
Minister of Transport, YB. Dato' Seri Kong Cho Ha said “I am very pleased with Firefly’s continued expansion and the introduction of its new fleet of jet aircraft. This would undoubtedly mean that passengers now have better choices to satisfy their travel needs and yet still enjoy low fares. I must congratulate Firefly on their decision to operate this new generation of aircraft namely the Boeing 737-800 as this aircraft has been proven to be superior in terms of economical operating costs, its advanced technical features and also passenger conveniences. It is the right aircraft to tap into the growth in the domestic and regional travel market in Malaysia and the region.”
Managing Director Dato’ Eddy Leong very boldly committed to offering the lowest fares in Malaysia with its new jets operations. “I personally guarantee the lowest fare in Malaysia with the operations of Firefly’s Boeing 737-800 from KLIA. I am confident of the savings in terms of operating costs that we will achieve from these operations which we will in turn give back to our customers in offering lowest fares with incredible values. The values that our passengers will enjoy encompass savings from the lowest fares available, aerobridge facilities, simplified purchasing of bundled services that will give customers 40% savings off the standard rates and of course the friendly and superior service levels that Malaysia Airlines and Firefly are famous for.
Firefly will operate six Boeing 737-800s in 2011 and by 2012 this will increase to 13 aircraft. There will of course be announcements of new routes in the future as our fleet grows.”
The event also included a tour of the aircraft which has a seating capacity of 189 comfortable leather seats with the seat size of 17.3 inches, width between arm rest with reclining level of 4.5 inches. Facing the cockpit, the seat pitch for the left side is 28” and the right being 32” with the minimum of 17 inches aisle pitch between the both.
Firefly’s Boeing 737-800 will begin its operations to its new routes, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching on the 15th of January 2011 from the Main Terminal Building, Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
