Subang, 19 January 2023: Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), has debuted a new cabin experience on its Boeing 737-800 jets, outfitted with unique seats built with lightweight upholstered leather, creating a fresh cabin ambience to provide customers with superior and enhanced comfort throughout their journey.
The newly refreshed cabin with 189 seats is now available on selected jet-operated routes from Firefly's hub in Penang International Airport to destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Johor Bharu, Langkawi, Phuket, and Banda Aceh. It will be progressively rolled out across its wider network in the next six months.
Designed with the comfort of passengers and sustainability in mind, the new ergonomic seats offer more width and legroom with a seat pitch of 30 inches and the recline dimensions of 4”. The seats were built with lightweight upholstered leather, which will contribute to a lower carbon footprint by reducing fuel consumption on the aircraft. Other upgraded functionality includes a personal device holder and USB type A and C power outlets for passengers to charge their devices at each seat.
Besides the brand-new cabin design, customers travelling on Firefly will have the flexibility to customise their flights based on their preferences, including various add-on choices for in-flight meals, baggage allowance, travel protection, and more.
Firefly operates the ATR72-500 from Subang Skypark and the Boeing 737-800 from its new hub at Penang International Airport.
