Summary:
KUALA LUMPUR: Firefly, a wholly-owned unit of Malaysia Airlines, is working closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to promote Koh Samui as an upmarket leisure destination for weddings, honeymoon, corporate team-building and incentive travel.

In a statement today, Firefly's head of marketing & communications, Angelina Fernandez, said demand for the destination for weddings and honeymoons came from not just the locals but also from foreign passengers from medium- and long-haul markets.

"These foreign tourists arrive here, spend a few nights visiting various destinations in Malaysia and then continue their holiday to Koh Samui to fulfil their wedding and/or honeymoon plans," she said.

She said Koh Samui was also a popular destination for team-building programmes, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises because of the direct air access Firefly provided and its close proximity, which was within a two-hour flight time from Subang. BERNAMA
