Firefly supports the FIRST 1Malaysia Paper Airplane Contest (1MPAC)

Subang: Firefly is proud to be the official sponsor of the 1Malaysia Paper Airplane Contest(1MPAC), which will be held on 22 September at the National Science Centre. There is no better combination other than a renowned Malaysian airline and the first large scale paper airplane contest in Malaysia, as both of them share one common objective through this partnership which is to educate the youth, students and public on aerodynamics and aeronautical engineering. This event is also supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Firefly is an encouragingly growing organisation that makes it a point to align its goals with the right attitude that spells nothing other than the characteristics such as agility, brilliance, fun and charm.

Firefly’s CEO, Ignatius Ong said, “With this partnership, Firefly aims to promote the flying experience with Firefly, akin to the culture of paper airplane-flying, both of which are great to be experienced with family and friends. We are delighted to be part of the efforts of instilling creative innovation and knowledge on engineering and aerodynamics amongst the 1MPAC participants who comprise of students from Primary School, Secondary School and the general public.

Background on Firefly

Firefly, a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, began operations in April 2007. Currently, it operates a fleet of 12 ATR 72-500 turboprop out of Penang and Subang, connecting secondary destinations within the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle as well as providing air linkages between Malaysia and Singapore.
