SUBANG - Firefly Holiday, dubbed as Malaysia's pioneer full-fledged travel portal offering worldwide holiday packages, officially launched its new travel portal today. "Firefly Holiday is ideal for global and regional travellers. It offers convenience from the time of booking to the point of arrival at the preferred destination. When Firefly Holiday first started, we had an average of 300 bookings a day. With the expansion of offerings now, we hope we can grow five times if not more in terms of volume and sales," says Ignatius Ong, Firefly's Chief Executive Officer.

Since its inception in April 2008, Firefly Holiday has evolved from offering only Malaysian and regional packages to more than 65 destinations worldwide. Through the portal, customers are given flexibility to customise and select their preferred flight timings, hotels and complement their holidays with optional transfers and tours. Some of the bargain packages available are: RM659 to Phuket (3d/2n), from Subang to Pekanbaru (3D/2N) starting at RM1450 via Firefly, or even RM5347 from KLIA to Amsterdam (7d/4n) via Malaysia Airlines.

Along with Holiday Packages, Health Packages are high in demand today not only from locals, but also by foreign passengers from medium and long-haul markets. For this growing niche market, Firefly has had the opportunity to collaborate with Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), to offer health packages for Indonesians needing specialist health care in Malaysia.

Ong further quips, "Firefly has always been actively involved in promoting medical tourism into the country especially with our Medan flights into Subang and Penang as well as from Banda Aceh and Pekanbaru. We have worked closely with many renowned hospitals in Malaysia in such promotion and now we are cementing an even stronger collaboration with IJN. This will further strengthen our foothold on our health packages to our customers in countries like Indonesia."

Meanwhile in September this year, Firefly will launch two new routes connecting Penang with Krabi and Johor Bahru with Ipoh. Fares for flights from Penang - Krabi will start at RM 149 one-way and Johor Bahru - Ipoh at RM 59 one-way. Tickets for these new routes are up for sale now.
