Firefly Guarantees Lowest Fares at Launch of Ticketing Office

Kota Kinabalu: Once again, Firefly assured passengers that it offers the lowest fares at the launch event of its latest airport ticketing office today.

According to Ms Angelina Corrina Fernandez, Head of Marketing & Communications, passengers’ convenience and comfort are Firefly’s top priorities hence the decision to fly from Terminal 1 of Kota Kinabalu International Airport as opposed to Terminal 2. “The airport ticketing office in Terminal 1 is strategically-situated to meet the needs of both local and international travellers, many of whom would want to make onward bookings to other destinations in our network once they reach Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

“We’re also committed to offering unbeatable value at the lowest fares to passengers, which is made possible by our decision to use the Boeing 738-800 aircraft. It seats 189 people and comes with blended winglets that help lower fuel burn - these factors help us achieve one of the lowest cost average per seat kilometre (CASK). Additionally, we’re able to leverage on parent company Malaysia Airlines’ infrastructure such as maintenance engineers and ground handling operations to lower fares further.”

Besides low fares, Firefly also offers innovative purchasing options such as the Standard and Premium sets of services, which allow passengers to enjoy up to 40 percent off add-on services such as 15+5kg checked-baggage allowance, in-flight meal, bottle of water and Preferred Seat selection.

To celebrate the launch of Firefly’s latest airport ticketing office in Kota Kinabalu International Airport, it treated 50 boys and girls aged six to 12 from St. Theresa & D La Salle Hostel to lunch at the new ticketing office. Additionally, the happy children received new school uniforms, reference books and school supplies to help them start the new school year on a productive note.

“As a community airline, it’s our duty to give back to the community in which we do business and this back-to-school treat is in line with that goal,” notes Fernandez with a smile.

Firefly’s latest airport ticketing office is located within the departure hall on level 2, Terminal 1 of Kota Kinabalu International Airport, and will open daily from 8.30am to 6.30pm; the opening hours will be revised to 7am to 10pm from 15 January, 2011 onwards.

To date, Firefly has 22 airport ticketing offices and projects to open at least another five in 2011 to support its expansion plans.

Firefly’s first Kota Kinabalu-Kuala Lumpur flight will take off on January 15, 2011; with two daily flights. From January 24, the frequency will be increased to three daily flights. The latest all-in fare promotion for Kuala Lumpur-Kota Kinabalu route is RM59 one-way for the travel period of 17 January to 15 May, 2011. For details, visit www.fireflyz.com.my.
