9 SEPTEMBER 2015, SUBANG - Firefly today held a special educational program at the SkyPark Terminal in Subang , Selangor. Titled “Career in Aviation”, the event was a collaboration between the local airline and Sunway Education Group. The event – which hosted 35 exchange students from University of Lancaster, UK, was designed to provide an overview of the airline industry, as well as to give the students a better understanding of what to expect should they choose to embark on a career in the industry.

This was the 3rd time Firefly organized a “Career in Aviation” event in the recent years, with this edition having the majority of the students from the faculties of business, communications and fine arts. The event - which lasted from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m - had Firefly CEO Ignatius Ong in attendance, and he generously shared his views with the students on the business, challenges and competition within in industry.

“We hope to provide a valuable learning experience to the students, and give them a better understanding of our industry, while also inspiring them to join this exciting and oftentimes rewarding career ,” Mr. Ong shared.

This also marks the first time that Firefly has hosted exchange students from outside of the country for its informative program. Ong said, “We are doing it a little bit different this time around, and we are happy to be able to provided valuable insight into our industry, not just on an international level, but on a local one as well.”

The students' day also involved a tour of the airport, a visit to a Firefly aircraft; and they also participated in a Photo Contest organized specially for the students.

Additionally, Firefly is set to launch a new route, with flights between the north-eastern city of Kota Bharu, Kelantan and the Island of Langkawi. This new route will commence on the 27th of October later this year. Flights for this route are available every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Mr. Ong added, “We expect this route to be a boon and great convenience to our customers on the north-eastern side of the country who wish to travel to the paradise island of Langkawi.”
