Firefly, Your Community Airline, will commence twice daily return flights between Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu from today. This is the second capital city in East Malaysia that Firefly serves from its Southern Hub in Johor Bahru. On May 19, Firefly launched four daily services between Johor Bahru and Kuching.

Firefly, Your Community Airline, had launched its City Ticketing Office today. This is Firefly’s fourth ticketing office locally and the first in the state of Johor. Strategically located at Persada Johor International Convention Centre in the heart of Johor Bahru city, Firefly’s City Ticketing Office will offer travellers the convenience of making and amending flight bookings on Firefly and purchasing Firefly Holiday products.

Firefly welcomed the arrival of its third Boeing 737-800 aircraft today, at Kota Kinabalu International Airport. At a press conference held, Firefly’s Managing Director, Dato’ Eddy Leong said that the third aircraft will be stationed and operating as scheduled from Firefly’s eastern hub in Kota Kinabalu, starting 15 May. This will strengthen its current network with increased frequencies.

Firefly announced today that they will continue to absorb the increases in fuel prices and not impose any fuel surcharge to its passengers even after other local airlines have announced the implementation of a fuel surcharge.

Firefly will be enhancing its flight operations by offering return check–in facility for passengers travelling on the same day. Return check-in simply means that passengers travelling to a destination and returning to its origin on the same day, will be able to pre check-in for their return simultaneously when checking- in for their originating sector.

Firefly has confirmed that it will be receiving its eleventh (FYK) ATR 72-500 aircraft in October, and subsequently the twelfth one (FYL) in November 2011. Entry into service will be one month from delivery date upon thorough pre-service check. This brings Firefly’s ATR fleet size to twelve, in a statement issued today.

Firefly has issued a statement today that its operations between Koh Samui and Subang, is back to normal with on-time performance rate of 95%, after the recent closure of Koh Samui Airport due to severe flood condition.

Firefly, Your Community Airline, announced today its services into Sandakan, marking its continuous network expansion with the Boeing 737-800 jet operation from the Main Terminal Building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). In line with strengthening its network in East Malaysia, Firefly is also increasing its frequency on the recently announced Sibu sector.
