8 March 2009

Kuala Lumpur, Sunday 8th March 8, 2009. Firefly, a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines that operates out of Penang and Subang airport has announced changes to its flight schedule from Tuesday 10th March, 2009 to 28th March 2009. Flights from Penang to Kuala Terengganu, Kota Bahru, Ko Samui and Kuantan are now temporary suspended. Flights from Penang to Langkawi, Phuket, Medan and Banda Aceh have been retimed. Some flights out of Subang airport have been retimed. Passengers are being notified of alternative flight arrangements.

These changes were part its planned network rationalization in view of the current economic environment and maintenance requirements on one of its aircraft.

"We are taking necessary initiatives to reduce the impact on our traveling passengers. We apologise to all our passengers for any inconvenience" said Eddy Leong, Managing Director, Firefly.
