Firefly Wins Best Value Airline Award
Singapore, 4 Feb 2010 – Firefly, Your Community Airline, was today honoured with the Best Value Airline of the Year award in the Commercial Air Transportation Category at the prestigious 2010 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Aerospace & Defense Awards ceremony held this afternoon at Changal Ballroom, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, Singapore.
The yearly award was in recognition of companies and individuals that have excelled exceptionally well and have risen above and beyond par excellence in their performance across Asia Pacific.
Over the past several years, this event has come to be associated with many of the brightest stars of the industry.
“Firefly will only celebrate its third anniversary of operation in April. With the proliferation of so many players in the regional aviation scene, we are pleased to be recognized for our growth acceleration at such an early stage with an award by the Frost & Sullivan which has leveraged over 45 years of experience in partnering with Global 1,000 companies, emerging businesses and the investment community from more than 35 offices on six continents. Most of all, we believe this achievement is mainly due to the fact that we bring fun back into flying” said the elated Dato’ Eddy Leong Managing Director of Firefly at the award presentation luncheon.
“Firefly is thrilled to be the airline of choice as proven by this award. This recognition will spur us to greater heights to be recognized as one of the most customer-focused airlines in the world, offering a new flying experience to all our passengers," added Eddy again.
On July 1, Firefly had docked for the first time at Singapore Budget Terminal Changi at 9.05am on its maiden flight to the island with an initial frequency of three flights daily from Subang. Firefly recently announced its fifth additional frequency into Subang from Singapore effective 28 March 2010.
Apart from the Singapore – Subang route, Firefly also has services from Singapore to Ipoh which started on 12 July 2009 at four times weekly and subsequently due to high demand is now a daily flight. With only two weeks after its launching, Firefly Mobile Booking has already recorded encouraging sales.
