Firefly Strengthens Its Current Network with the Increase of its ATR 72-500 Turboprop Aircraft

SUBANG – Firefly, Your Community Airline, has confirmed that it will be receiving its eleventh (FYK) ATR 72-500 aircraft in October, and subsequently the twelfth one (FYL) in November 2011. Entry into service will be one month from delivery date upon thorough pre-service check. This brings Firefly’s ATR fleet size to twelve, in a statement issued today.
The two additional aircraft will be used to strengthen Firefly’s current network footprint through increased frequency for high demand sectors; such as to Langkawi, Penang, Johor Bahru and Singapore from its city airport hub in Subang. Firefly currently flies to 10 domestic and seven regional destinations with its fleet of ATR, with the total of 324 flights a week.
Managing Director Dato’ Eddy Leong said that, Firefly is negotiating for additional ATR72- 500s to be delivered gradually till 2015 to fuel its expansion into more secondary routes in initiative of continuously strengthening its network.
