Firefly Opens Kuantan - Singapore Route

Kuantan, 8 July 2009 – At an event hosted by the State Government of Pahang, Firefly today announced the commencement of its highly anticipated Singapore-Kuantan route at a press conference attended by Travel Agents, Hoteliers, Corporate Companies and Business Associations, as well as Airlines and Aviation industry representatives.

Firefly's first entrance into Singapore skies from Pahang is slated for departure from Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport on the 22nd of July at 1530 arriving Singapore Changi Budget Terminal at 1630. This four times weekly route is very much targeted to the leisure community offering point to point connection at incredible value with low fares.

Pahang is a well-known holiday destination among Singaporeans for its pristine beaches and a whole range of sea activities. "This route reflects our commitment to the Pahang State Government to help spur and increase tourism economy. We will be promoting many well known packages in Pahang such as to Pulau Tioman, a popularly known place for diving, family fun, relax and also as a pampered getaway. We will also be promoting other alternative packages with our travel agents during monsoon season for adventure getaway to Taman Negara" said Eddy Leong, Managing Director of Firefly.

"At the same time this route will also complement the intention by the Pahang Government to further develop the state's other economic assets besides timber," added Eddy Leong.

Firefly's other new Singapore routes will also begin in stages in the month of July (schedule attached).

Leong emphasized on the added value of flying with Firefly where passengers would have the convenience of flying from a city airport, hassle free check in, free 20 kg baggage allowance for check-in baggage, assigned seating, and in-flight complimentary refreshment with snacks at no additional cost.

Firefly's Managing Director, Eddy Leong also added that, "This is an extremely exciting period for all of us at Firefly. Despite the grim outlook for most airlines, we are opening new routes at a frantic pace. Our new routes from different parts of Malaysia into Singapore further strengthen Firefly’s network focusing on commuters for business and leisure travelers. It is in line with our promotion of ONE destination FOUR countries, pairing countries together to co-support tourism. Singapore is an important hub for Firefly to tap into and our target market will now expand to not only Singaporeans but also Malaysians working in Singapore, the expatriate community and transit passengers."

Firefly offers an introductory promotional all-inclusive one way fare from RM88. The fares are already available for booking for travel period from now till 24 October 2009. For booking details, please visit www.fireflyz.com.my.
