Firefly opens brand-new ticketing office in Kota Kinabalu to offer greater convenience

Kota Kinabalu: Firefly, Your Community Airline, opened its latest city ticketing office in Api-Api Centre, a popular local mall, to ensure low fares are easily accessible to Sabahans.

According to Firefly’s Head of Marketing & Communications, Ms Angelina Corrina Fernandez, Api-Api Centre was an ideal location because of the convenience it offers customers. “Our latest city ticketing office in Kota Kinabalu is within walking distance of major hotels and serviced apartments, easily accessible via public transportation and surrounded by ample parking options. If you don’t have access to credit or debit cards and stable internet connection or just prefer dealing with our friendly staff, drop by the office; we’re ready to serve you.”

Firefly is also committed to ensuring its customers enjoy incredible value with the lowest fares. According to Fernandez: “Firefly’s Boeing 737-800 operations will focus on offering unbeatable value at the lowest fares. This is made possible by our decision to use the Boeing 737-800 aircraft with its blended winglets that lower fuel burn and 189-seat capacity, which has allowed us to achieve one of the lowest cost of available seat per kilometre (CASK) among our competitors. We also have the advantage of leveraging on our parent company Malaysia Airlines’ infrastructure such as maintenance engineers and ground-handling operations to keep costs even lower.

“The savings gained is passed on to our passengers in the form of low fares and high-quality flight experience that includes aerobridge services – hence our decision to fly from Terminal 1 in Kota Kinabalu International Airport and land in the Main Terminal Building of KL International Airport. You don’t have to cross the tarmac under the hot sun to board our planes.”

To mark this important milestone, Firefly organised fun activities at the office premises that included a Lucky Dip for walk-in customers who showed up with completed cut-out coupons published in local newspapers days earlier: prizes included return “zero-fare” fare tickets for flights from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur and discount coupons for merchandise purchase.

Firefly will begin its operations from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur twice daily on January 15. From 24 January, 2011 the frequency will increase to three times daily. One of the key features of the B737-800 operations is that passengers can enjoy even greater savings with the Standard and Premium sets of services that let passengers buy several add-on services at low prices.

For example, the Standard set comprises an in-flight-meal, bottle of mineral water, 15+5kg of checked baggage allowance and Preferred Seat selection, and costs RM38 only, which is 40 percent lower than if the add-on services were bought individually.

The latest all-in fare promotion for the Kota Kinabalu–Kuala Lumpur route is RM59 one way for the travel period of 17 January to 15 May, 2011; booking period will end on 16 January, 2011. This promo fare is sold online as well as at this ticketing office, located at Lot 2-0-3, Ground Floor, Api-Api Centre, 88000 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Background on Firefly
