Firefly Introduces New Routes with 3rd FOKKER 50
Firefly is adding a third aircraft to their fleet. The addition of another Fokker 50 introduces its new routes to and from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (SAAS) Airport– Kuala Terengganu and Johor Bahru.
Only recently, the airline announced its flights to Langkawi and Kota Bharu, a welcome alternative for Malaysian travelers.
“Since our inaugural flight to Subang in October, the number of passengers on board our aircraft has grown. It is a natural move, and about time, that we add on a third aircraft to service the new routes” said Firefly Managing Director, Eddy Leong.
Terengganu is the gateway to many of Malaysia’s island destinations such as Redang Island, Perhentian Island, Kapas Island and Tenggol Island. This is yet another value proposition for passengers flying from Kuala Lumpur via Subang, as now they have more destinations to choose from.
Firefly prides itself in being a community airline that primarily caters to secondary routes, linking smaller airports throughout the Peninsular, thus bringing communities closer. Now with Senai International Airport in the picture, folks from the central region will find a more manageable and accessible means of air travel through SAAS Airport in Subang.
This spur of expansion is also in line with its goal of connecting Malaysians throughout the region as it now also connects the southern state to the central and northern region.
“Our move to expand our routes to Johor and Terengganu also enables Firefly to play a role in supporting the government’s plan for economic growth in the respective areas,” added Leong.
On top of that, passengers can now book accommodations through Firefly Holiday and access almost 140 hotels in Malaysia and Thailand at the Firefly website. Options of accommodation are not only at all Firefly destinations but also at other popular destinations such as Cameron Highlands, Lumut and Malacca in Malaysia, and Bangkok, Phang Nga and Chiang Mai in Thailand. Prices for accommodation start from RM 80*.
In conjunction with the new destinations, Firefly is offering an exclusive introductory fare of RM 9.99* to all their flights from the SAAS Airport. Tickets to Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Penang, Langkawi and Kota Bharu are now available for booking until 30 November 2007. Travel period for flights to Penang, Langkawi and Kota Bharu is from 19 November 2007 to 29 March 2008 while for Johor Bahru and Kuala Terengganu is from 18 December 2007 to 29 March 2008.
