KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) — The Malaysia Airlines System Employees Union (Maseu) has called on the government to revise a circular on the list of airlines, besides Malaysia Airlines, providing domestic flights for civil servants on official duties.
Maseu executive secretary Mustafar Maarof said the revision was necessary as airlines like Fly Asian Xpress (FAX) and Pelangi Airways, which are still in the list, no longer operate domestic flights.
Mustafar said the circular, issued by the Treasury in January 2007 was still applicable until today.
FAX no longer operates domestic flights in Sabah and Sarawak and the service had been taken over by MASwings while Pelangi Airways had already ceased operations, he said in a statement.
Maseu also suggested that the government allow civil servants to fly only Malaysia Airlines when on official duties.
He also said that Firefly, a Malaysia Airlines subsidiary, should be included in the list of airlines providing domestic flight for government employees on official duties.
