Subang - Firefly, Your Community Airline, was awarded the "Most Promising Brand of the Year" award, during the Putra Brand Awards Gala Night, held at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya yesterday.
The Putra Brand Awards measures brands by consumer preference, through a robust consumer research methodology, to determine Malaysians’ favourite local and international brands. Organized in association with Malaysia’s Most Valuable Brands (MMVB), the Putra Brand Awards is a recognition and brand valuation exercise initiated by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As).
Firefly’s CEO, Ignatius Ong receiving the award from Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The evaluation is based on a very stringent set of criteria, which include international brand expression, innovative range of products, branding and product development, business size, ADEX track record for the past year and competitive strength in the industry
Firefly’s CEO, Ignatius Ong said, “Firefly is thrilled to accept this distinguished award. It will certainly spur us to greater heights in serving our customers as we continue to be one of the best customer-oriented regional airlines in the industry, offering an excellent flying experience to all our passengers".
“Firefly constantly strives to enhance its services to address the needs of both business and leisure travellers alike. As part of the turboprop operations expansion plan, Firefly recently introduced its newest service between Kota Bharu and Johor Bharu, which will witness its inaugural flight tomorrow. Firefly is the only commercial airline to provide direct access between the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia and the Southern state of Johor.
“To be honoured with such a prestigious award, right before an event that signifies Firefly’s continued growth, is a great accomplishment for the company. A two-in-one celebration!” he added.
Firefly has also received other numerous awards and recognition. The most recent was when Firefly was conferred “Superbrand” status in 2011. Other awards received include the 2010 Frost & Sullivan Value Airline of the Year award and the Green Initiative of the Year 2010 award by Leaders in Aviation in conjunction with the Doha Aviation Summit. Firefly is also recognised as the Best Brand in Aviation for the Brand Laureate.
Firefly, a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, began operations in April 2007. Currently, it operates a fleet of 12 ATR 72-500 turboprop out of Penang and Subang, connecting secondary destinations within the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle as well as providing air linkages between Malaysia and Singapore.
Firefly provides incredible value as well as convenient flight timings and excellent service to its passengers. On the ATR 72-500, passengers are allowed 20kg check-in baggage allowance, provided complimentary in-flight refreshment, assigned seating and convenient city airports.
Firefly had also received numerous awards and recognition. The most recent was on November 15, 2011 when Firefly was conferred “Superbrand” status. In July 2011, Firefly’s Managing Director, Dato’ Eddy Leong had been honoured for his outstanding leadership qualities and was awarded the Global Leadership Awards for Community Airline Sector.
Awards received last year include the 2010 Frost & Sullivan Value Airline of the Year award and the Green Initiative of the Year award by Leaders in Aviation in conjunction with the Doha Aviation Summit.
