Firefly rolls out Prepaid Change Fee
18 May 2012
Subang – Firefly’s latest product offering to travellers, Prepaid Change Fee, offers savings to passengers should they choose to change their flight date or flight time after they had paid for their seats.
The Prepaid Change Fee is RM40 to make changes on a domestic route and RM50 on an international route and it can only be purchased from the Firefly website while passengers are making their flight bookings.
Without purchasing the Prepaid Change Fee, passengers would have to pay RM70 to make flight date or flight time changes on a domestic route and RM100, for changes on an international route.
Firefly’s CEO, Ignatius MC Ong, said: “We understand unexpected events may happen, resulting in passengers wishing to change their date or time of travel. Having purchased the Prepaid Change Fee, passengers save RM30 which is equivalent to 43 per cent on a domestic route and RM50, equivalent to 50 per cent, on an international route.
“We liken the fee to “insurance” that passengers buy upfront with the intention to save should they exercise their option to make flight changes. We expect the take up to be mainly from business travellers as this segment is most likely to change their travel plans should their meetings be rescheduled or cancelled. For the leisure segment, this option will offer convenience and flexibility and at the same time savings.”
Passengers who choose to exercise their option to change their flight date or flight time will have to contact Firefly’s Call Centre at +6 03 7845 4543 to make changes to their bookings. This must be done not less than 48 hours prior to schedule flight departure. They are also subject to pay a difference in fares, if their new flight costs more.
